The custom shop at C.F. Martin & Co. handcrafts only a limited number of full custom instruments and these instruments are highly sought after by both collectors and musicians alike for their quality of build and tone. Handcrafted in Nazareth, PA, this custom Martin 5K tenor ukulele is made of beautiful Hawaiian Koa wood with a classic building style, utilizing the old ukulele molds that were once in service decades ago at the peak of Martin ukulele production.
This Custom Martin 5K Tenor ukulele comes complete with gorgeous Hawaiian koa wood face, back, and sides with dark vertical streaking in the wood. In addition, this beauty boasts a solid Honduran mahogany neck, professional open-geared tuners for precise tuning, white celluloid binding on front and back with bound fretboard and black dot side position markers, black-white pinstripe on soundboard and back and around soundhole. A wonderful abalone shell inlay on the soundboard, back, headstock, and fingerboard position markers. Ebony fretboard and classic Hawaiian Koa wood bridge. Finished with a beautiful high gloss finish.
Remarkable tonal qualities. Perfect balance, crisp highs and deep lows and perfect intonation as well. This ukulele is not only an accurate representation of the historical pieces of yesteryear but they are excellent recording level instruments ideal for the professional musician and weekend player as well. There were only a handful of original Martin 5K tenor ukuleles made in the 1920s and these are valued at $50,000 by today’s market. This one has the same pedigree coming from the custom shop at C.F.
