ケリー・チャー・ウクレレ

Beautiful custom Char tenor ukulele handcrafted by Kerry Char of Portland, Oregon. Local-boy Kerry Char has gone back to his roots in Hawaii by constructing some of the finest handcrafted ukuleles around. Born on the island of Oahu, Kerry is most recognized for his Flamenco and Classical guitars and has been working with stringed instruments for nearly 25 years. Now, acclaimed Peruvian guitarist Alfredo Muro is one amongst a number of musicians who continues to enjoy and record with Kerry’s classical guitars. Kerry is also regarded as one of the foremost in vintage stringed instrument restoration nationwide and frequently receives requests for restoration of rare historical pieces from museums throughout the world. And now, Kerry has taken his knowledge and love of building back to his roots and handcrafts some of the finest ukuleles available on the market.

This wonderful custom tenor ukulele boasts a rare combination of master grade curly Koa back and sides with legendary Bear Claw ‘Lucky Twelve’ sinker wood spruce soundboard. This combination is one of the most sought after in the guitar community and rarely found amongst ukuleles because of the rarity of the soundboard wood. Macassar ebony fretboard and bridge with compensated slotted bridge to adjust for either a low-G or high-G set-up. Top and back curly koa binding. inlaid abalone top purfling on soundboard and matching abalone rosette. Spanish cedar neck for added stability. Mastodon ivory (fossilized) nut and saddle and premium high gloss lacquer finish for aesthetic appeal.

A very rare find from one of the world’s finest luthiers. Excellent projection and sustain with very complex and chocolatey yet balanced tones. Intonation is set perfectly and ease of play is absolutely wonderful on this instrument. Center balanced in terms of overall weight of the instrument which makes it easy to cradle as well. Highly recommended. This uke is a phenomenal player instrument.
