Here is a beautiful and tremendously rare Kamaka Tenor Gold Label Ukulele from the 1960s. This gorgeous piece is handcrafted from solid Hawaiian koa wood from the only company whose name is synonymous with ukulele, Kamaka.
Wonderfully aged Hawaiian Koa face, back, sides, neck and fretboard. Notice that the face, back, and sides are all solid pieces of koa wood with no center seam. This is one characteristic of the early Kamaka tenor ukulele. It is also the only Kamaka ukulele model that came with bridge pins.
The uke is from an era in which not many tenors were handcrafted and so this piece appeals to both the collector as well as the player. A sound that rings classic ‘Kamaka’ with nice deep low tones and crisp highs.
