Beautiful and rare 1960s Kamaka ‘Gold Label’ tenor ukulele handcrafted by Kamaka Ukuleles of Honolulu, HI. This instrument was constructed of gorgeous quarter-sawn Hawaiian Koa wood on face, back, and sides with a rosewood fingerboard and is from the ‘Gold Label’ era of the 1950s and 60s. The instrument was refinished by the Kamaka factory and meticulously cared for by a collector of fine ukuleles. Since it’s been refinished it has virtually went unplayed and is in immaculate condition. There were no repairs done to the ukulele. It received a fresh coast of finish, new ‘KK’ decal and gold label, and a new set of strings. It’s a stunning example of an early Kamaka tenor and is perfect for both the collector of ukuleles or the ukulele enthusiast looking for a classic Kamaka sound from a timeless era. 14 fret joint to the body with perfectly set string action for ease of play and a classic 60s Kamaka sound.
Nice warm traditional ‘Kamaka’ sound that brings you back to a day yesteryear. Excellent clarity and sustain all the way up the neck. The overall center balance of the instrument is also wonderful and is easy to cradle up against your body when playing. If you’re looking for a great player uke you can’t go wrong with a Kamaka.
