Absolutely beautiful custom Moore Bettah ‘Orchid’ Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by master luthier Chuck Moore of the Big Island, HI. This wonderful and extremely rare Moore Bettah ‘Pele’ tenor ukulele was handcrafted from the finest materials on the Big Island of Hawaii. Gorgeous master grade premium Macassar Ebony wood back and sides with an Sitka Spruce soundboard. Ebony wood fretboard and bridge, and matching Ebony wood top head plate with a top, back, fretboard binding of Macassar Ebony wood and a gorgeous side arm bevel for added comfort when playing. Adirondack spruce 3-fan top bracing on the underside of the soundboard and a Honduran mahogany wood bracing on the back of the ukulele. Side sound port for a monitor like experience, allowing the player to embrace the sweet sound of each note with wonderful clarity. Solid carbon fiber reinforced Spanish cedar wood neck for a light weight feel and a slightly brighter sound. Gorgeous ‘Pele’ themed inlay on the headstock of scrimshawed faux ivory and dyed stone. Pele, the fire goddess in Hawaiian culture, is believed to be the source of life and creation of the land. It is said that she resides within the volcano and that from her flows the life of the land and lava, which forms new earth in Hawaii. In keeping with the theme, Kilaue’a volcano was also meticulously inlaid in to the fingerboard. Tusq was used for the nut and saddle and the instrument was set up with Gotoh UPT geared tuners for quick and precise tuning. Glossy Nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
This instrument is an absolute treasure. Rich and wonderful tones with excellent sustain, clarity, and projection. The instrument is very well balanced tonally all the way up the neck and spot on intonation as well. Highly recommended player piece but also a remarkable piece of functional art.
