Circa 2018. Preowned. Extremely beautiful custom Lichty tenor ukulele handcrafted by Jay Lichty of Lichty Guitars in Tyron, NC. Jay handcrafts a stunningly beautiful instrument with tones that are nothing short of a true custom ukulele. This particular ukulele has been preowned but was meticulously cared for since its completion and shows very little play wear.
This beautiful Custom Lichty Tenor Ukulele was handcrafted from Pacific Northwestern Myrtle wood on the back and sides with a special Port Orford Cedar soundboard. Myrtle wood is one of North America’s most exotic woods and is known for possessing tonal qualities similar to Maple wood – clear and bright with nice projection but slightly more round. Port Orford Cedar is known for its remarkable strength to weight ratio but also has a profound attack, leading to a beautiful combination of woods that makes for an amazing instrument tonally. The fretboard and bridge are handcrafted of musician’s grade Gabon ebony wood and the neck is carved from solid Honduras mahogany wood for added stability. Gorgeous hand cut paua shell rosette and classic ‘L’ logo for aesthetic appeal. Special order custom position marker inlays on 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 for quick reference when playing. A very nice touch aesthetically. Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding with a matching Hawaiian Koa wood rosette for a subtle but elegant contrast with the hues of the Pacific Northwestern Myrtle wood and Port Orford Cedar. Beveled armrest for added comfort when cradling the instrument against your body, deep-bodied side sound port for a monitor like experience when playing, and a slotted headstock with matching Pacific Northwestern Myrtle wood veneer bound in Hawaiian Koa wood are a few more amenities that attest to the functional beauty of a Lichty ukulele. Camel bone nut and saddle. High gloss nitrocellulose finish. Professional Waverly geared tuners for precise and smooth tuning.
Absolutely amazing tones and a true joy to play. This instrument is a world-class recording level instrument with excellent projection, sustain, and clarity. Very easy to play all the way up the neck. Great for picking or strumming. Highly recommended!
