Custom Pete Howlett Tenor Ukulele

Custom Pete Howlett Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by Pete Howlett in the Gwynedd, United Kingdom. One of the foremost luthiers of ukuleles in Europe, Pete’s instruments are highly regarded and appreciated by musicians and ukulele enthusiasts worldwide. Using the finest quality materials and with over 35 years of experience, his instruments have wonderful projection and considerable sustain and clarity.

This custom Howlett tenor ukulele was handcrafted with an African wood called ‘Korina’ on the face, back, and sides. Also known as ‘limbo’ wood, this hard wood strikes a bearing similarity to a lighter colored Hawaiian Koa wood with dark vertical streaks. Ebony wood fingerboard and bridge with a top and back white celluloid binding and matching celluloid bound fretboard. The neck was also handcrafted from Korina with a Makore wood stringer for added stability. Paua shell rosette and matching top paua shell purfling. A truly beautiful piece with a wonderful tone. Korina is closely related to mahogany and has a balanced, warm tonal spectrum with a slightly more pronounced mid-range. ID#190058
