A wonderful replica ukulele of an extremely rare David Mahelona ‘violin’ ukulele. This unique concert sized ukulele is newly handcrafted by Tangi ukuleles with appointments and a design that pays tribute to the original David Mahelona ukulele from the 1930s that remains on display at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum on the island of Oahu.
This beautiful piece is handcrafted from gorgeous Hawaiian koa wood face, back, sides, and bridge. It bears a rosewood fretboard, classic rope marquetry, and abalone shell inlay in keeping with the theme of the original piece. Soft tones with a more hollow sound – due to the nature of the body design. Some discoloration and fading in the finish although the instrument is considered ‘new old stock’ and has never been preowned or played. A wonderful addition to both collectors and enthusiasts of our historical four stringed friend. ID#:180169
