Custom Lymana Tenor Ukulele

Beautiful pre-owned Lymana 4-String Tenor Ukulele handcrafted with an upper-bout porting system by luthier Lyman Ashikawa of  Honolulu, HI. Lyman handcrafts some of not only the most aesthetically pleasing ukuleles available on the market but also professional recording level instruments for both the professional musician and recreational player. Mr. Kazuyuki Sekiguchi of Southern All-Stars (Japan) and legendary ukulele player Bill Tapia (Hawaii) are amongst the elite group of musicians who have throughly enjoyed the sound and playability of Lymana Ukuleles.

This beautiful custom Lymana tenor ukulele boasts a master grade Western Cedar soundboard for great clarity and mid to high range tones with a back and sides set of Peruvian Rosewood.  Simple white celluloid top and back binding give the instrument a nice contrast to the wood grain used on this beautiful ukulele. The neck has been carved from Spanish Cedar and includes a graphite truss rod for added structural integrity and sustain. Macassar Ebony wood fingerboard and bridge with a matching Ebony wood head plate and classic ‘L’ Lymana logo in mother-of-pearl. Slotted headstock with Gold Schertler tuners and black buttons for smooth and precise tuning. Elegant abalone shell rosette and matching position markers on positions 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 for quick player reference. High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body with a satin style finish on the neck for smooth play up and down the fingerboard.

The Peruvian rosewood back and sides, combined with the Western Cedar top, give this instrument a deep resonant tone with a wide breath and range. Nice crisp and clean tones all the way up the neck with deep lows with a nice balanced mid-rage and crispy high notes as well. The tones are absolutely wonderful on this piece ~ very rich and complex all the way up the neck with excellent clarity, wonderful sustain and excellent projection as well.

All of Lyman’s ukuleles are meticulously crafted from the finest materials and with stunning attention to detail. They are amongst the most sought after ukuleles and yet some of the most difficult to acquire. A true work of art aesthetically with some of the cleanest luthiery techniques employed by the 21st century ukulele luthier. There is a slight ripple in the soundboard below the bridge and above the butt of the instrument and shallow dip below the fretboard and above the bridge. It is currently stable but should be disclosed. There are also a few minor cosmetic nicks and dings. Please see photos for more details.
