Custom Koa Rhythms Tenor Ukulele

コア・リズム・テナーウクレレ (特別注文)

Beautiful New Custom Koa Rhythms Ukulele handcrafted by luthier Calvin Okahara of  Kailua-Kona, HI. Calvin handcrafts beautifully playing and aesthetically pleasing instruments for both the weekend musician and the recreational player in very limited fashion with only 2-3 instruments available per year.

This beautiful Custom Koa Rhythms tenor ukulele boasts a gorgeous sunburst finish, musicians-grade Englemann Spruce soundboard, and master grade Hawaiian Koa wood back and sides; a coveted combination of spruce wood and Hawaii grown handpicked curly Koa from the Island of Hawai`i. Englemann spruce is known for its beautiful, rich, and sensitive tone and is often recommended for finger style and light flat picking. It is known to have good bass and slightly less midrange brightness than Sitka spruce. The overtones are also more brilliant in nature than that offered by Sitka spruce. The neck has been hand-carved from Honduras mahogany for added structural integrity and sustain and is very comfortable, gliding into higher position up the neck with ease. The fretboard, bridge, and top and back binding are crafted of musicians-grade Ebony wood with a matching Ebony end graph. This gorgeous piece also boasts an abalone rosette and matching paua shell top soundboard purling, abalone shell position markers on the fingerboard for quick reference, a meticulous Hawaiian fishhook themed inlay on the headstock, and a Hawaiian ‘Ahi’ or Hawaiian Tuna’ fin in keeping with the theme of the piece. The heel cap abalone shell has also been hand-cut and is a signature mark of Koa Rhythms Ukuleles. Professional Gotoh 16:1 geared tuners  for precise tuning.

All of Calvin’s ukuleles are meticulously crafted and are rarely available on the market. Only 2-3 pieces made per year. Calvin’s instruments have perfectly set intonation and offer precise tones all the way up the neck. Nice crisp and clean notes with deep lows a balanced mid-rage with bright high notes as well. This instrument has two small nicks in the ebony fingerboard at the 14th fret and can be seen in the photos when enlarged. They are very minor and do not affect the playability or tone of the instrument. A deep discount has been provided due to this small imperfection.

Koa Rhythms Ukuleles are handcrafted with all the warmth of true ‘Aloha’. A highly recommended piece that rarely appears on the grand landscape of ukulele luthiery. ID#:180132
